Principal's Message

Ramona Flower Garden

Dear Ramona Families,

It is with great pleasure and joy that I welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year! 

This school year we will continue our journey in math by focusing on Cognitive Guided Instruction (CGI) and I welcome you to hear more about it during our Coffee with the Principal meetings.  On October 5, 2018, parents in Grades K-6th grade visited classrooms to witness students problem solve and engage in math discourse During our monthly Coffee with the Principal meetings, families will have an opportunity to explore how students are creatively solving challenging math problems and engaging in classroom discussions. Don’t miss this opportunity!

Something new for this school year is our Robotics Program in the upper grades.  Our Robotics Team, the “Robo Runners” are excited to show case their talents. Something else that’s new to Ramona Elementary is coding, which we hope to begin our second semester and our edible garden, which will break ground in the second semester, as well. Please be on the lookout for when these programs will formally begin at Ramona Elementary. 

As in previous school years, we ask for your support in promoting healthy lifestyles by sending healthy snacks.  We ask that sugary drinks, sweets (cookies/candies), and salty treats such as chips are saved for either after school or during the weekends. We are encouraging our Ramona Scholars to make healthier lifestyle choices.  We thank you in advance for your support 

If you’re interested in volunteering, please see our parent representative, Ms. Ornelas who we are fortunate to have five days a week. Please stop by to meet her any time between 8:00AM-2:30PM.  If you’re interested in volunteering, please speak with her and she will guide you through the process.

As always, the entire Ramona Staff is looking forward to a partnership with you and we are committed to excellence. Please join us in an active partnership with us by ensuring your child: 1. Attends school daily and on time, and is ready for the day's learning. 2. Completes all homework and assignments given by the teacher. 3. Reads daily for enjoyment and to develop literacy skills to the highest level. 4. Shares daily school experiences with you 5. Informs you if he/she needs support in any area or subject. Daily dismissal is at 2:30PM.  Students will be dismissed at 1:25PM every Tuesday for the remainder of the school year. Breakfast in the classroom will continue this school year and will be served in the classroom until 8:30AM each morning. I am honored and privileged to serve as your principal. I look forward to seeing our returning parents and meeting our new families.
